Frequently Asked Questions | Fox Fitness PDX

About Fox Fitness PDX

What is Fox Fitness PDX?
Fox Fitness PDX is a queer-owned, inclusive fitness consultation service based in Portland, Oregon. We help LGBTQ+ adults, older populations, and beginners find sustainable, affirming paths to better health and strength. Whether you're new to exercise or returning after time away, our consultations guide you in building a routine that fits your life—not the other way around.

Who do you work with?
We specialize in working with LGBTQ+ individuals, especially those who feel overlooked or unwelcome in traditional gym spaces. Our clients range from folks in their 20s to their 80s, and include people recovering from injuries, managing chronic conditions, or transitioning and looking for gender-affirming fitness support.

Consultation Services

What happens during a fitness consultation?
During a 1-on-1 consultation (in person or virtual), we’ll talk about your goals, current habits, physical health, and any barriers you’re facing. You’ll walk away with personalized insights, suggestions for your next steps, and resources tailored to your unique needs.

Is there any pressure to sign up for a long-term plan?
No. Our goal is to empower you with clarity and direction, not to sell you anything. You can choose to continue working with us—or take what you’ve learned and move forward independently.

What kinds of goals do people bring to a consultation?
Our clients often want to:

  • Build strength and mobility

  • Improve posture and balance

  • Lose weight sustainably

  • Transition to home workouts

  • Navigate fitness during or after gender transition

  • Create a long-term plan without diet culture or burnout

Fox Fitness PDX App

What is the Fox Fitness PDX App and how does it support clients?
The app is a supportive tool we use to help people stay connected, engaged, and accountable. After your consultation, you may be invited to join the app for:

  • Custom habit tracking

  • Daily workout suggestions

  • LGBTQ+ affirming fitness content

  • A private, supportive community chat

  • Messaging with a certified fitness coach

Is the app included with a consultation?
App access is available as a follow-up option. We’ll talk about whether it’s the right fit during your consultation.

Virtual & In-Person Options

Can I meet with you in person?
Yes! In-person consultations are available in Portland, Oregon. Virtual consultations are also available and just as effective.

Do I need to be in shape to book a consultation?
Absolutely not. Whether you’re sedentary, active, or somewhere in between, consultations are tailored to meet you exactly where you are.

Getting Started

How much does a consultation cost?
This is not a for profit service. The intention of Fox Fitness PDX is to help the community

What if I have injuries or health concerns?
That’s exactly what consultations are for—creating a plan that honors your body. We regularly work with people managing chronic pain, scoliosis, joint issues, and more.

Do you offer gender-affirming fitness support?
Yes. We understand how gender identity, body image, and fitness intersect. Consultations are a safe space to explore goals related to body composition, posture, muscle building, and movement—through a trans-affirming lens.
