Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We've got answers.

Application & Consultation Process

What's the application process?

Fill out a brief form (5 minutes) telling me about your goals, training history, and what you're looking for. I personally review every application to see if we're a good fit. If we are, we schedule a free 20-30 minute consultation call. If we're not aligned, I'll let you know directly and honestly.

What happens if I don't qualify?

No judgment. Some prospects are better served by other trainers, and I'd rather be honest than waste your time. If that's the case, I'll explain why we're not aligned and suggest alternative directions or resources that might help.

How long until I hear back?

You'll get an automated response within 24 hours (usually within an hour). The email will tell you next steps—either a consultation booking link or a friendly explanation of why we're not aligned.

Is the consultation really free?

Yes. The 20-30 minute consultation call is completely free. No credit card required. No obligation to train with me. We're just talking to see if it makes sense to work together.

What if I'm not ready to commit yet?

That's totally fine. Still apply and mention that in your form. We can talk through where you're at and what might help you feel more ready. No pressure—just a conversation.

Virtual Training

Is virtual training as effective as in-person training?

Yes—when programmed correctly. In fact, our virtual model offers advantages: detailed form feedback via video submission, flexible scheduling, and personalized programming that accounts for your specific setup and circumstances. You get 1-on-1 expert coaching without location limitations.

What if I don't have a home gym?

We work with what you have. Dumbbells? Resistance bands? Bodyweight? Your living room? All viable. During your consultation, we'll evaluate your space and create a training solution that works for you.

How is this different from generic online coaching?

I specialize in training gay men 30+. I integrate posture correction and active-aging principles into every program. Your training isn't generic—it's built specifically for you, with video form feedback and ongoing adjustments based on your actual results.

How often do we communicate?

Depends on your program tier. With Virtual Lifestyle Coaching, you have direct messaging anytime, monthly video check-ins, and can submit form videos for feedback whenever you want. Everything happens through the app—no scattered texts or emails.

Can I train from anywhere in the world?

Yes. Virtual training is designed to work anywhere. That's the entire point. You can be in Portland, traveling for work, or on another continent. Same expert coaching, full 1-on-1 support, zero location barriers.

Programs & Pricing

What's included in Virtual Lifestyle Coaching at $150/month?

Full access to your private training app with custom workout programs · nutrition plan & tracking · ability to send me form-check videos anytime · monthly video call check-ins · direct messaging · access to the private LGBTQ+ community forum. Everything you need for comprehensive 1-on-1 coaching.

What about in-person training in Portland?

You can add 1-on-1 in-person sessions to your program at $65-80/session depending on frequency (1x/week, 2x/week, or 3x/week). Everything in Virtual Coaching is included, plus hands-on form coaching. Sessions are in Pearl District or Slabtown. Limited availability—consultation required.

Which tier should I choose?

That depends on your situation, budget, and commitment level. That's exactly what we talk about in your free consultation. I'll help you understand which option makes the most sense for your goals and lifestyle.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. No long-term contracts. You can cancel anytime. That said, we recommend committing to at least 8-12 weeks to see real results and progress.

Do you offer payment plans?

We can discuss options during your consultation. Reach out at info@foxfitnesspdx.com if you want to talk payment before applying.

Training & Fitness

Can you help if I'm returning to fitness after time off?

Absolutely. This is actually one of my specializations. We assess your current movement patterns and build a gradual progression that rebuilds confidence and capability without re-injury risk. The active-aging specialty means I know how to bring you back safely.

I'm new to fitness. Can I start with you?

Yes,If you're completely new to lifting, we can often help, but I'll be direct about whether you'd benefit more from building basics first with someone else. Let's talk during your consultation.

How long before I see results?

It depends on your starting point and goals. You should notice changes in how you feel (energy, mood, confidence) within 2-4 weeks. Visible muscle/aesthetic changes typically take 8-12 weeks of consistent training and nutrition. Posture improvements happen gradually as you integrate corrective work.

Do you help with nutrition?

Yes. Every program includes a custom nutrition plan and tracking in the app. I'm not a registered dietitian, but I have solid nutrition knowledge for fitness goals. If you have complex medical dietary needs, I can work alongside your doctor or dietitian.

What if I have an injury or chronic condition?

Tell me about it in your application form. As a Corrective Exercise Specialist, I work with various injuries and conditions. We'll assess what you're dealing with and potentially modify training accordingly. If you need medical clearance, we'll discuss that during consultation.

How much does posture correction matter?

A lot. Poor posture limits how much muscle you can build, undermines the aesthetic you're creating, causes pain, and accelerates aging in your body. Every program includes posture assessment and corrective work integrated into your training. This is non-negotiable for me.

LGBTQ+ & Community

I'm not a gay man. Can I still work with you?

I specialize in training gay men 30+, but allies are absolutely welcome. Many of my clients are allies who want to train with someone who shares their values and understands LGBTQ+ fitness culture. If that resonates with you, apply and let's talk.

Do you have experience with specific health considerations?

Yes. I have LGBTQ+ health literacy around PrEP, hormone therapy, chronic conditions, body image issues, and other considerations specific to our community. If you have specific health concerns, mention them in your application and we'll discuss during consultation.

What's the private LGBTQ+ community forum?

It's a private space built into the app where clients connect, share wins, ask questions, and support each other. It's optional—you don't have to participate—but many clients find real value in being part of a community of people with similar goals and experiences.
